China Central Television (CCTV – 中国中央电视台) is the predominant state television broadcaster in China. It has many channels that are independently broadcast.
CCTV-1 (综合频道) is the primary channel of CCTV that broadcasts news and entertainment programs. CCTV-2 (财经频道) is a financial and business news channel. CCTV-3 (综艺频道) is a terrestrial TV channel that broadcasts arts and entertainment programs covering dance and performance shows, variety shows, music events, and other arts programs. CCTV-4 (Asia, Europe, the Americas : 中文国际频道) are Chinese-language international channels for overseas Chinese living in Asia, Europe, and North and South America. Programming consists of a wide variety of programs, including news, TV series, movies, documentaries, music shows, sporting events and children’s shows. CCTV-5 (体育频道) is a sports television channel (Live webcasts are only available in China).
CCTV-6 (电影频道) is a movie channel. CCTV-7 (国防军事频道) is a free-to-air television channel that broadcasts programs dedicated to the People’s Liberation Army. CCTV-8 (电视剧频道) is a free-to-air channel that broadcasts TV drama series, including historical dramas, Melodramas, soap operas, comedy-dramas, and more. CCTV-9 (纪录频道) -is a documentary channel. CCTV-10 (科教频道) is a terrestrial television channel that focuses on science, education and culture.
CCTV-11 (戏曲频道) is a free-to-air channel that broadcasts Chinese opera (Peking opera, etc.). CCTV-12 (社会与法频道) broadcasts programming related society and law. CCTV-13 (新闻频道) is a news and current affairs channel. CCTV-14 (少儿频道) is a children-oriented television channel that broadcasts animated series, kids game shows, TV series, variety shows and other programs. CCTV-15 (音乐频道) is a music channel that broadcasts various music programs, including C-pop (Chinese popular music), classical music, and Chinese traditional and minority music. CCTV-17 (农业农村频道) is a free-to-air television channel broadcasts agricultural and rural information.
